Manager Designate
Reporting to the Contract General Manager, this role involves the Operational Management and leadership of the CAT UK c/o Jaguar Landrover compound-handling contracts.
The role involves managing any of the CAT UK c/o Jaguar Landrover compounds on a long and / or short term basis as the business dictates (holiday / sickness cover, high workload support, project support etc) to ensure consistency and delivery of service.
The focus of the role is to lead the team through provision of excellent customer service, with a “can do” approach, developing good customer relations and motivating the team.
The Manager Designate will be responsible for control and cost reductions through continuous improvement, re-engineering, increased productivity, and other methods. Pursuing opportunities through further added-value activities and extended customer relations.
Duties
• Ensure all activities meet the JLR TQM standards & processes
• Use JLR forecasts to establish headcount needs against planned volumes, liaison with manufacturing & other service providers to determine requirements.
• Manage and reduce costs in labour and identify areas for lean operation processes.
• Manage annualized hours contracts to ensure hours are being utilized in the most beneficial way to support the business and the operation.
• Vehicle movement control
• Full responsibility for all aspects of quality including (but not exhaustive) measuring, monitoring, training, documenting processes, seeking best practice & taking action to prevent risk to CAT UK
• Minimise Damages caused by or attributable to Groupe CAT through pro-active process control, training and inspection.
• Undertake Quality Audits & Inspections
• Ensure problem vehicles are dealt with in an effective manner and actions communicated to relevant parties.
• Ensure CAT UK meets client requirements and achieved KPI’s.
• Control and reduce costs through continuous improvements.
• Training and Health & Safety
• Compound Management – maintaining standards
• Keep accurate measure of all operational disciplines & produce KPI’s accordingly
• Lead & direct accordingly
• Ensure compliance by your Team Leaders and Supervisors
• Ensure full control of the operation, with continued communication with internal and external bodies
• Incident investigation
• To be able to work at any of the CAT UK c/o JLR Compounds throughout the UK on a long term and / or short-term basis. This may involve staying away from home to limit daily travel times and to maximise site presence.
Essential Experience:
• Professional or Occupational Qualification relevant to the position
• At least 4 years’ experience within an Automotive, Logistics or Manufacturing industry
• Proven Financial Awareness including Lean Management
• Knowledge of Quality processes
• Ability to produce KPI reporting and reviewing
• Proven leadership skills
• Strong communication skills, both oral & written
• IT Literate (including Microsoft packages)
• Ability to lead, motivate and problem solve
